NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona infielder Corey Chamberlain, of Claysburg, was selected the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Week in baseball on Monday, Feb. 24.
Chamberlain had a great day at the plate on Sunday afternoon, when the Lions started their season with a doubleheader sweep of nonconference opponent Mary Baldwin University on the road.
In game one, a 10-9 Penn State Altoona win, Chamberlain went 1-for-3 with four runs batted in, a double, and a walk. He followed that up by hitting 3-for-4 with three RBI, three runs scored, a double, and a walk in game two, a 10-3 victory for the Lions.
Chamberlain finished the day hitting 4-for-7 (.571) with seven RBI, three runs scored, two doubles, and two walks.
Penn State Altoona baseball continues its schedule on the road on Feb. 26, traveling to face nonconference foe Waynesburg University in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
